| Students Win Scholarships in State Ethics Competition |
OKLAHOMA CITY - Across Oklahoma, individual accounting college students examined the professional ethical standards for certified public accountants — and three won scholarships from the Oklahoma Society of CPAs. The New CPA Committee of the OSCPA conducted its annual Ethics Contest for the organization’s student members, requiring applicants to review a case study and submit a written evaluation, using the Professional Code of Ethics from the American Institute of CPAs. Members of the Professional Ethics Committee judged the entries with no knowledge of participant names or schools. First place and a $750 scholarship went to John Strange from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Okla. Sheryl Rado of Rose State College in Midwest City, Okla., won second place and a $500 scholarship. Third place and a $250 scholarship was awarded to Seungwon (Andrew) Hong from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. With more than 6,000 members in public practice, industry, government and education, the OSCPA is Oklahoma’s only statewide professional association of CPAs. Since 1918, the organization has continued to provide professional education, conduct quality reviews and promote and maintain high standards of integrity and competence within the accounting profession.
