Teachers Invited to Take the LEAD and Win Cash

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants announced a call for entries for a lesson plan competition for accounting and business educators at Oklahoma schools.

The OSCPA Lessons Enhancing Accounting Development (LEAD) Contest will award two cash prizes to the winning teachers and their schools. In 2008, Charlotte Burnham from Moore Norman Technology Center won the $500 grand prize while her department was awarded $200.

“This is a great program,” Burnham said. “It isn’t time consuming to enter and it recognizes and encourages teachers to be creative in the classroom.”

The contest is open to educators teaching accounting- and finance- related subjects to students in grades nine through 12 on a continuous and regular basis at an accredited Oklahoma school. Qualifying subjects include business, accounting, personal finance, finance, personal economics, economics and business math.

Submissions must be received by April 15, 2009, and winners will be announced on or around May 31, 2009.
