Tulsa Seminar to Help Answer 401(k) Questions

OKLAHOMA CITY — A recent study reported that many Americans lost a third or more of their 401(k) savings as the stock market plummeted earlier this year.

A class at the seventh annual Do It Herself: A Journey to Financial Freedom in Tulsa, Okla., includes advice from a female certified public accountant on making the most of retirement vehicles in the current economic climate.

Susan Dick, CPA, president of Susan Dick Financial Services in Bartlesville, Okla., will present, “What Happened to My 401k? What Can I Do About it Now?” Hosted by the Tulsa Chapter of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tulsa YWCA, Do it Herself will be at the Downtown Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa on Friday, Sept. 11.

"With everything there is to know about the world of finances, an individual can quickly become overwhelmed," Dick said. A conference like Do it Herself dedicated solely to teaching women about the importance of finances, gives attendees a unique opportunity to grow in the understanding of their financial worlds. It is a place where women have the chance to learn and ask questions without pressure and gain more confidence when dealing with their finances."

Created for women, by women, Do it Herself begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. The conference will also include classes on estate planning, getting out of debt, reducing taxable income, reading and understanding credit reports and more.

Other speakers include local CPAs and Marcia Brixey, author of “The Money Therapist: A Woman’s Guide to Creating a Healthy Financial Life” and founder of Money Wise Women Educational Services, as the keynote speaker.

Tickets are $15 and include lunch. Additionally, door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. For more information, visit http://www.oscpa.com/ or call the OSCPA at (800) 522-8261, ext. 3829.
