CPA Day at the Capitol

Oklahoma CPA Day at the Capitol is your chance to develop important relationships within the state legislature by sharing your perspectives on issues facing the accounting profession. Members from across the state will gather to become comfortable with legislative advocacy. Gain a better understanding of how Oklahoma lawmakers evaluate bills and issues when it comes to the work you do as a CPA – and how the OSCPA and our membership work to pass favorable legislation on your behalf.
*Note: The OSCPA will not be making individual appointments with legislators. If you choose to meet with your legislator(s), please be sure to call their office to schedule a visit.
- Discuss the legislative processes of Oklahoma's Senate and House of Representatives.
- Identify upcoming key issues affecting the CPA profession, and become comfortable discussing those issues.

Charles A. McCall currently serves as Speaker of the House of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He was first elected to the chamber in 2012. Additionally, he served as Mayor of Akota, Oklahoma from 2005 to 2012.
Leslie Osborn currently serves as the Oklahoma State Labor Commissioner. Prior to that, she served 10 years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, representing District 47. During her tenure, she was the first female to chair the Judiciary Committee of the House, and in 2016 she was named the first Republican female chairman of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee.
Osborn received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Oklahoma State University and resides in Mustang, Oklahoma. She owned and operated her own business for 22 years selling heavy duty truck parts, Osborn Pick-Up Accessories, and is the mother of two children.
Benny F. Vanatta
Benny Vanatta, the OSCPA's lobbyist, is known for constructing and executing strategic plans for his clients in the area of government relations based on his expertise and professional experience as a former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
A native of Bartlesville, Okla., Benny accepted a basketball scholarship to Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business. He also earned a Master of Adult Education Administration from Oklahoma State University.
After a decorated military tour in Vietnam, he returned home to take a position with Central Vo-Tech in Sapulpa as the campus director and director of adult education. Benny served the Sapulpa district in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for five continuous terms. Then, in 1989, left to enter the field of governmental relations, founding Vanatta and Associates.
Mr. Vanatta is joined in the firm by his wife, Vicki, who has a valuable background in the government arena with experience in the Oklahoma State Senate, Oklahoma House of Representatives, State Auditor’s office and the State Attorney General’s office.
