12:50pm - 2:30pm

At the beginning of this century, notorious corporate scandals led to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and increased federal regulations. Today, we know significantly more about how these companies' leaders behaved at the height of their fraudulent actions, creating a climate of fear and intimidation where other senior executives felt compelled to do whatever was necessary to "meet the numbers." Most people operate ethically most of the time. How is it that someone can coerce otherwise good people into taking unethical and even fraudulent actions? The answer lies in basic human nature and our need for security, achievement, significance and the many ways unethical or 'toxic' leaders can play on our anxieties and fears.

  • Learn how to use the rules of influence to ethically influence others and learn how to defend ourselves when the rules of influence are applied against us in an unethical manner

2:45pm - 4:25pm

Lack of confidence and assertiveness can lead to resentment, depression, low self-esteem, and loss of respect from colleagues and employers. Clear and compelling leaders are better equipped to move projects forward and make things happen while improving cooperation and respect from partners and subordinates. During this session you'll find more effective ways to communicate as a leader and gain skills to communicate confidence while inspiring trust and increasing credibility.

  • Discuss importance of preparation and self talk
  • Learn how trust and competency improve communication in the work place
