Many things have to come together to be a great leader. The focus in this session will highlight the most important areas of leadership using various tools and techniques. This session will benefit current and future leaders. Participants will be given the opportunity for self-assessment and team survey materials.

Objectives

  • Understanding your leadership strengths and weaknesses are key to your ability to become the best possible leader. Assessments and honest feedback are a key component of leadership.  Learn from other leaders who have successfully encountered tough situations and discover some lessons learned.
  • Hiring, retaining and motivating a team is essential for successful leaders. The session will discuss the Ideal Team Player and provide a self-assessment tool and tips on identifying the right talent for your culture.
  • If you have fears that you are not good enough to be a leader, you are not alone. How could the Imposter Syndrome be holding you back as a leader? This session will discuss ways to overcome the imposter syndrome.

Instructors

James B. Walters

Brian Walters, CPA, has more than 10 years of executive finance and accounting experience. He has proven success in both accounting and finance responsibilities including leading accounting, finance and administrative teams in very diverse industries. His experience includes pipeline construction, equipment rental, an equipment dealership and manufacturing. Walters has contributed his expertise to established companies, start-ups and turnarounds. His accounting firm, James B. Walters, CPA, PLLC, serves the cannabis industry and focuses on providing customized solutions, including controller functions, consulting and tax preparation, to companies at every stage of growth and segments of the vertical. Walters is lifelong Oklahoman with a bachelor’s in finance and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
