Eric Johnson, CPA, selected as the 2023 Accounting Hall of Fame inductee

Eric JohnsonIn a prestigious announcement that resonated throughout the accounting community, the OSCPA unveiled Eric Johnson, CPA, CGMA, as the 65th inductee into the esteemed Accounting Hall of Fame.

The momentous award presentation took place at the OSCPA's Inaugural Award Ceremony held at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City on August 24.

Each year, the OSCPA bestows this exceptional honor upon an individual who has not only excelled within the profession but has also set new standards for the accounting field through their remarkable successes.

Johnson's journey in accounting started at Cameron University, where he embarked on his academic voyage. After earning his bachelor's degree, he pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma, obtaining master's degrees in both business administration and science in management information systems.

A dedicated member of the OSCPA since Feb. 10, 2001, Johnson's commitment to the Society and the accounting profession has been unwavering. His extensive service record includes a pivotal role as the OSCPA Chair from 2012 to 2013, and over his 22 years of membership, he has actively contributed to 16 different committees.

Additionally, Johnson has held various vital positions within the OSCPA's Board of Directors and currently serves as a member of the OSCPA's Public Relations and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committees.

Johnson's illustrious career is adorned with numerous accolades. In 2007, he was recognized as a distinguished CPA by the OSCPA. A few years later, he became a member of the OSCPA's inaugural Trailblazer class.

In an interview as part of the 2010 Trailblazer Class, Johnson expressed his commitment to community improvement, stating, "Our communities are reflections of ourselves, and anytime someone gets an opportunity to lend a hand to make improvements, he or she should commit without hesitation."

Through his active involvement with the Educational Foundation, CPA/PAC, and many other initiatives, Johnson's dedication, time and expertise have been instrumental in shaping a brighter future for the next generation of CPAs.

His induction into the Accounting Hall of Fame serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the profession and his enduring impact on the accounting community.
