Oklahoma’s CPA Pathways Bill Celebrated at Ceremonial Signing

A major step forward for the future of the accounting profession in Oklahoma was celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, as Gov. Kevin Stitt hosted the OSCPA for a ceremonial signing of legislation modernizing the state’s CPA licensure requirements.

House Bill 4317 creates an additional pathway to CPA licensure while also updating Oklahoma’s mobility provisions to align with national changes to the Uniform Accountancy Act. The legislation widens the door to more Oklahomans pursuing the CPA profession while maintaining the education, examination, and experience standards that protect the public and uphold the profession’s high level of trust.

The law formally takes effect Nov. 1, 2026. 

The marks an important milestone in OSCPA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Oklahoma’s accounting pipeline, expand opportunities for future CPAs and ensure the profession is prepared to meet the state’s workforce needs for years to come.
