Overview
This is a collaboration event with the Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Louisiana state societies.The OSCPA is hosting a summer Beach Conference at the eco-friendly, sustainably-designed Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL.
Masterfully appointed with modern amenities, every aspect of the property has been designed to be respectful of the land and creatures around it. As for activities, the Lodge is steps away from 28 miles of hiking and biking trails and its beach-front location provides easy access to a host of water activities, so whether you want to get your long run in, kayak the Gulf, or simply lounge on the beach, there is something for everyone.
The conference will offer 4 hours of CPE each morning, leaving you free to enjoy your afternoons and evenings. Mark your calendar and make plans to join us this summer!
Sleeping Rooms: Our room block at the Lodge at Gulf State Park is full. We have secured an overflow block at the Hilton Garden Inn here using the code SOLCPA (this hotel is a 5-minute drive from the Lodge). These rates are good for arrivals as early as July 21, departing July 26, and are subject to state and local taxes. Hearing and mobility accessible rooms are also available.

Lisa McKinneyLisa McKinney
Lisa McKinney, CPA, practiced in public accounting for nine years in Birmingham and Memphis. She specialized in tax consulting and planning with extensive client experience in the real estate industry and partnership tax issues. Ms. McKinney joined The University of Alabama Culverhouse School of Accountancy as a full-time faculty member in 2001 and has taught undergraduate level courses in taxation and financial accounting for the last 21 years. Primary courses of instruction include Introduction to Financing Accounting, Individual Taxation, and Business Entity Taxation.
McKinney is director of The Culverhouse School of Accountancy LIFT community outreach and experiential learning program. This initiative utilizes University students to teach free computer, financial, and career classes to adults, veterans, seniors, and teens in under-served communities. The program utilized over 600 volunteers and leaders in the Fall 2022 semester, teaching over 35 classes each week throughout West and Central Alabama. During the pandemic, LIFT continued to provide classes virtually. Through the LIFT program, students work with food banks in west Birmingham and Selma to help them with volunteer management, inventory management systems, accounting, and warehouse organization.
McKinney also provides tax training for many small to mid-sized accounting firms in the Southeast, as well as nonprofit organizations. Over the past five years, McKinney and LIFT have partnered with The Central Alabama Redevelopment Alliance to build an accelerator to support underrepresented micro-businesses in Alabama. University students are utilized in this capacity to provide accounting and other business services to both for-profit and non-profit businesses.

Kurt G. Oestriecher, CPA is a partner with Oestriecher & Company CPAs in Alexandria, La., and is the partner in charge of accounting and auditing. He is Past-President of the Louisiana Society of CPAs and has served on numerous LCPA and AICPA Committees. He has facilitated CPE courses since 1992 and has received the AICPA Outstanding Discussion Leader Award 12 years and the LCPA Outstanding Discussion Leader Award four times.
This course will cover recently issued standards that relate to United States GAAP and performance of auditing through preparation engagements.
